Coach Nico is moving to Virgin Active Foreshore, effective 1 October 2026. This FAQ covers what the move means for your package, pricing, and sessions. If your question isn't answered here, please contact Coach Nico directly.

1. The Move

Why is Coach Nico moving?

Nico has been recognised as one of our top coaches. The move forms part of our efforts to build the Virgin Active Chad Le Clos Swim Academy (“VA CLC”) at Virgin Active Foreshore.

When does it happen?

Nico's last day at Point is 30 September 2026, and his first day at Foreshore is 1 October 2026, so there is no gap in coverage between the two locations.

2. Your Options

From 1 October 2026, you have three options. Let Nico know your preference and he will handle the rest - no forms or re-enrolment required.

Move to Foreshore with Coach Nico.
Stay at Point with our new coach, Ewan (see section 8).
Cancel your package, at no extra fee.

Whichever you choose, Nico will continue seeing out your Point sessions through September, so nothing is missed during the transition. For family or multi-person packages, each member can make their own choice - it doesn't need to be all-or-nothing.

3. Your Current Package

What happens to sessions or credits I've already paid for?

They transfer in full, on the same terms you have now. Nothing is lost and nothing needs to be repurchased.

Will my expiry date change?

No, unless you choose to pause or cancel your package, which can be done at no extra cost.

Can I pause or freeze my package instead of cancelling?

Yes, packages can be frozen with no loss of remaining sessions. Just let Nico know ahead of your next scheduled session.

4. Pricing

Your already-paid sessions won't cost you anything extra. New pricing below applies only to packages purchased on or after 1 October 2026, and every private, semi-private, and squad package is priced lower at Foreshore - no package is increasing.

Why is pricing changing?

This is being rolled out across the VA CLC swim offering to better accommodate members. It is not specific to Foreshore or tied to Nico's move.

Do loyalty perks, referral discounts, or long-time-client rates carry over?

Yes, any existing loyalty or referral discounts continue to be honored at Foreshore, except for the Embark squad.

Is there flexibility on price given the extra distance for some clients?

As pricing is decreasing with the move, this shouldn't add any financial burden. If distance remains a concern, please discuss it directly with Nico.

5. Squads

VA CLC is introducing a refreshed squad structure across all clubs, focused on ability rather than number of sessions, giving swimmers a clearer progression path and more flexibility:

Dolphin Squad (age 7+) – progressing from Learn to Swim; stroke and skill fundamentals, preparing for Shark Squad.
Shark Squad (age 7+) – beginning squad training; stroke technique and endurance, preparing for Competitive Squad.
Competitive Squad (age 8+) – for swimmers aspiring to compete, with training focused on endurance and speed.
Performance Squad (age 12+) – specialised training for competitive swimmers; requires VACLC Swim Club registration to attend competitions.
Elite (age 16+, Point only) – for swimmers requiring absolute dedication, with elite coaching for high-level goals.
Adult Squad (age 20+) – for fitness swimmers and triathletes seeking structure and a supportive training community.

Pricing and any renamed squads are set out in the table above.

Will squads continue at Point for those who don't move?

Yes. The new structure runs at Point too, facilitated by Ewan, with no price increases and only minor scheduling changes.

Will training times and days stay the same?

They may differ slightly at Foreshore. Nico will assess the new site and offer packages that suit members.

Will group class sizes change?

New group offerings are being introduced at Foreshore; your own existing classes remain unaffected.

6. Scheduling & Sessions

Will my regular day/time stay the same?

Nico will do his utmost to keep your existing schedule, and doesn't expect this to be an issue. You'll be notified well in advance of any changes.

How do I book or check my sessions?

Booking works the same way as before; the only change is that it's now under Virgin Active Foreshore rather than Point.

What if my sessions straddle the move date?

Nico will see out your Point sessions through September. From 1 October, your sessions move to Foreshore if you've chosen to transfer.

Is there a substitute coach if Nico is out sick or on leave?

Yes, Foreshore has cover arrangements in place, consistent with the current arrangement at Point.

7. Location & Facilities

Where is Virgin Active Foreshore?

17 Rua Bartholomeu Dias, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town, 8001.

Is parking available?

Yes, two hours of free parking is available.

Do I need a membership to attend?

Point is a Collection Country Club, so Point members can access Foreshore under their existing membership. Foreshore doesn't offer day passes or non-member access, so an active Virgin Active membership is required.

What amenities are available?

A heated, 5-lane, 25m indoor chlorinated lap pool, changing rooms with showers, a sauna, and a steam room. Free WiFi is available throughout, along with an on-site Nü food venue.

Can I visit before the move?

Yes, speak to Nico and he'll arrange a visit to Foreshore ahead of your first session there.

Will supervision and pickup/drop-off for children stay the same?

Yes, supervision, changing rooms, and pickup/drop-off remain consistent with what you're used to at Point.

8. The New Coach at Point: Ewan

Ewan brings six years of coaching experience across every level, from learn-to-swim through to competitive and triathlon athletes. He currently coaches at AquaSharks Swim Club and Embark Triathlon Group, and previously served as Head of Swimming at Reddam House Constantia, managing the school's full swimming programme.

He specialises in stroke correction, technique development, and video analysis, building structured training programmes with heart rate and effort monitoring. As a registered Specialist Wellness Counsellor, he also places real emphasis on confidence-building, motivation, and mental resilience.

Will I meet Ewan before Nico leaves?

Yes, there will be a handover period with both coaches on the pool deck, giving Ewan time to learn about your progress.

Will pricing and coaching style be the same?

Pricing will decrease per the table above, and scheduling shouldn't be a problem as Ewan is starting with a fresh schedule. Every coach has their own style, but all VA CLC coaches, including Ewan, are personally selected by Chad Le Clos and held to the same international standard.

What if I'd prefer not to continue with Ewan either?

We can cancel your Point package with no extra fee.

9. New Members

Can I bring a friend or family member who isn't a current client?

Yes, at new-member pricing (see section 4). They'll need an active Virgin Active membership, as day passes aren't available at Foreshore.

Is there a waitlist for new sessions at Foreshore?

No. As an existing client, your session continues as normal and you keep priority for your usual spot.

Still Have Questions?

Coach Nico will continue to teach all his current clients personally at Foreshore — there are no plans to hand clients off to another coach. For billing issues during the transition, contact Nico or Virgin Active Foreshore's front desk.
